A level Greece Trip

Posted 14th March, 2017

We have just returned from a fantastically successful four day trip to the birthplace of theatre and democracy (and Homer). Aside from a slightly (!) damp day in Mycenae, the weather was perfect, as were the students who were both a credit to Redborne and great fun to be with.

It confirmed the choice of several of them to read Classics at university and left all of us confirmed Hellenophiles!

Roll on 2019 and the next A level Greece trip...

Redborne Classics Symposium 2017

Posted 06th May, 2017

On Monday 17th July, from 5pm until 9pm, we are delighted to announce that we be hosting our first Classics event open to schools, teachers, and the wider community.

With music and refreshments provided by other talented Redborne students, there will be talks from Dr Arlene Holmes-Henderson (Oxford), Prof Edith Hall (KCL), Dr Ursula Rothe (OU), and the hilarious Natalie Haynes (Author and Broadcaster).

There will also be a cash bookstall selling the work of our speakers.

European Festival of Latin and Greek

Posted 18th March, 2017

On Friday 24th March, Classicists from all across Europe will gather in small groups to read aloud at least one book from Homer's Odyssey, either in their own language or Homer's Greek.

We plan to join in with this, probably in our school library but the final details are to be confirmed. Hopefully we will be able to record it and upload our first podcast.
